Halo Venture Partners is a private venture capital company investing primarily in digital media, advertising and media-related technology companies. Halo’s investment portfolio has included successful media companies such Scout.com and UGO Networks.  Scout Media was sold to Fox for $56m in 2005 and in 2007, UGO Networks was acquired by Hearst for $80m. Halo’s current investments include iWin.com, Spongecell.com, Playlist.com, Heartbeat.com, ASmallWorld.net, Trigger Media and Halo’s sister company, Signalray Media, a research and information company that tracks and monitors movement, changes and pertinent information about important and relevant sales talent within the media industry.

Halo began as a network of friends and investment colleagues who wanted to be able to “pick and choose” investments based upon their personal preferences and interests rather than being committed to a blind investment fund with little or no interaction with the portfolio companies. This Single Purpose Vehicle (SPV) approach has been the premise of Halo’s growth over the past 10 years.  Investing through Halo allows investors to have a close relationship with each of its target companies without having to be responsible for monthly and annual investment management typically associated with early stage investments. Additionally, the SVP format further empowers investors as Halo negotiates board representation and important shareholder rights in each of its deals.
